Inaugural Sporting Wellness charity Golf Day success

Golfers helped raise a fantastic £3,000 when they teed off for our inaugural charity Golf Day this week.

A total of 108 golfers, in teams of four, headed for the fairways of the Wergs Golf Club, Tettenhall, Wolverhampton.  The day was adjusted to take into account the current Covid-19 regulations, with players keen to get back to the game in aid of such a worthy cause.

Callum, our Founder said “The golf day has made a fantastic contribution to our First Anniversary Fundraising Campaign, and it was great to see all the players.   Their support has helped raise vital funds towards promoting positive mental health amongst young sportspeople.   In our first year, we’ve provided access to direct support to some 198 sportspeople across a wide range of sports. A big thank you to all the players,  sponsors, the Wergs Golf Club for hosting and Jaz Khunkun from Blackthorns Accountants for organising the day.”

The team from Haines Watts took first place in the main competition, CKW Contracts second and Wergs Warriors Youngsters third. The Longest Drive was won by Jon Day from HCL Bank House team 2.  Nearest To the Pin was won by Paul Wells from the Yeoman Pressings Team. Each of the teams also had a special glow ball and nine were returned in various states of repair – three teams finished on 35 points with the ball: Butcher Woods, Brewin Dolphin and Mason Metals 2. On count back Mason Metals 2 took the win.

The points gained by the three HCL Bank House teams added to the charity’s coffers as they had been sponsored by David Hipkiss, Director of HCL Bank House, who pledged to donate £1 for every point the combined HCL Bank House teams scored – so their combined score of 237 points made an extra £237 for the charity.
