Fantastic fundraisers will help us to support our next 100 young athletes!

The weekend of 18th and 19th July saw a real flurry of activity on the Fundraising front for Sporting Minds UK!

We had Archie Palmer from Amersham rowing the length of the River Thames – he might not have been on the actual water, but Archie had the proper equipment and his route all mapped out along the testing 215 miles of the longest river entirely in England. It took Archie just under a week of serious rowing through virtual countryside, towns and cities to finish his challenge on Sunday 19th July, taking cold showers and ice baths to aid recovery along the way!

15 year old Jasper Grace from Solihull set himself the unusual and testing challenge of running one mile every hour for fifty hours. Jasper began his running at 10pm on July 15th, with the target to complete it in time for his 16th birthday on the 19th July, which he successfully did. What a great birthday achievement!

Professional netball coach Lesley Tischler’s driveway sale of interesting and collectible items was a novel idea on Saturday 18th July, and a resounding success, before her move away from Dulwich Common.

We also have Ashley Spall (who was featured on the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire “Play Up” evening sport show on Tuesday 21st) still training for his own half marathon, taking place around Leamington and Warwick on Saturday July 25th, with the finish line being at Warwick Cricket Club. Karl Frost is also still running his 1000 kilometres in 100 days – very apt to lead into the fact that all this fantastic fundraising, £4,000 to date just from these five inspirational supporters, will be a massive help towards supporting our next 100 young athletes.

We’ve recently reached the important milestone of supporting our first 100 young athletes with fully funded referrals to a specialist at BUPA, for much needed individual and tailored one to one mental health support.

We’re here to help you, to get the support you need.
